Today was the last full day in Germany as part of the Plus3 trip. We were given a free day where we could do whatever we wanted as long as Dr. Feick gave his approval in advanced, so I made plans with my friends to spend the day in Nuremberg.
The first destination was the Reichsparteitagsgelände. This place is infamous because of the speeches made my Hitler during the Nazi regime. As part of this, I also visit the museum. I found the building to be quite beautiful; it was a huge coliseum made out of stone. I think it’s a shame that Nazi speeches were held there, because otherwise it would be a beautiful tourist destination.
The next destination as part of my trip was into the city of Nuremberg. Here, I did a lot of last-minute shopping. A lot of the places in the city were surprisingly cheap. For this reason, I stocked up on German candy and chocolate to bring home. The city had a very calm atmosphere, which I think is because it’s not that big as a tourist attraction as other cities. While I was here, I also had the chance to have Currywurst for the first time. I thought it was very good, but unfortunately I won’t be able to get it again until I come back to Germany.
Overall, I think Nuremberg was my favorite city out of all the places I visited in Germany. I was expecting it to be much more touristy than it actually was, which was a very pleasant surprise. It was definitely the most affordable city we visited. I liked the amount of street vendors that were selling German foods like bratwurst and currywurst. I think it contributed to the nice atmosphere of the city. Spending the last day in Nuremberg was a great way to end this amazing trip to an equally amazing destination.
