Hi everyone! My name is Elayna Kinmartin. I am going to be a sophomore at The University of Pittsburgh studying nursing. In the future, I hope to become a travel nurse in labor and delivery. I was born in Singapore and have a twin sister who is also studying nursing at James Madison University. I also have an older sister who is an RN at Penn. I have worked in many restaurants as a waitress and hostess and am in a research mentorship program that focuses on maternal studies. I am a caregiver at a nursery where I can spend time getting to know families around Pittsburgh! I love to workout, eat, travel, nature, and music. I am studying abroad in Argentina with the Plus3 program. We will be learning about the healthcare systems here and experiencing them first hand. I chose this program because I believe it will help me become a better nurse. In order to truly be there for my patients, I have to be understanding and open to new experiences. This trip will help me start to do that. I also am trying to visit every continent before I am thirty and I have yet to visit South America! I hope to not only become more educated in Argentina, but also immerse myself in their culture and traditions. I hope this trip helps me find new ways of learning outside of the classroom. I also want this trip to overall help me become more rounded and diversified.
