The Commencement of the Culmination

Hi! I am Noah Kochavi, a current freshman in the University of Pittsburgh’s Swanson School of Engineering. I am majoring in computer engineering with a minor in mathematics. Due to my headstart through several AP classes, I am taking sophomore-level classes such as Linear Circuits and Systems, and Intro to Theoretical Mathematics. I have experience in MATLAB, C, Java, and HTML/CSS/JS as well as experience working in teams through my Art of Making class and even leadership experience through being an officer of the Pitt Math Club. After my Germany adventure, I will be working for Pitt Mascaro Center for Sustainable Innovation in a summer research internship.

Outside of my academic and professional life, I have many interests that have waxed and waned over the years. A longtime continuing passion that I have is for my YouTube channel about incremental games, where I have built up a community of over 2,300 YouTube subscribers and over 300 members on my Discord server. Incremental games are games stripped down to just focus on gameplay over fancy graphics and a story, and they usually involve progression and huge numbers. I have even developed some of my own incremental games, playable here and here. Other topics I nerd out about include mathematics, computer hardware, phones, and tech in general, and cars, which drove (pun intended) me to pick Plus3 Germany over other Plus3 programs.

The study abroad program at Pitt always looked enticing, and Plus3 sounded like a good way to get a taste of the study abroad program. Plus3 Germany, which is focused on the automobile industry, always felt like a natural choice for me, especially considering the fact that I took four years of German in high school. I will finally get to use my knowledge of the German language inside of Germany all while experiencing my first time in a continent that I’ve never been to. I hope to delve deep into what makes the automobile industry tick and learn more about the manufacturing process of cars. I hope to also gain experience working with real companies. Overall, I am super excited to study abroad in Germany in May.
