Hi Everyone! My name is Katie Heckroth and I am from Cleveland, Ohio. I am finishing up my freshman year in the College of Business Administration as a marketing major. Some of my involvement at Pitt includes being one of the recruitment chairs for Alpha Kappa Psi, a professional business fraternity, a sister of Alpha Epsilon Phi, and a member of American Marketing Association. Outside of student organizations and academics, I love singing, dancing, and spending time with friends.

I am beyond excited to be going to Costa Rica for Plus3! Fun fact, it will be my first time traveling outside of the United States! I chose Plus3 because it’s an amazing way to get exposed to the real world and other cultures. It will also allow me dip my toe into global experiences if I ever decide to spend a whole semester abroad. Personally, I want to make a lot of new friends, professional connections, and learn about the culture first hand. Academically, I want to learn as much valuable and applicable knowledge on the supply chain of coffee and bananas as I can. And finally, professionally, I am eager to be immersed in real world business practices.

I am also excited to try many new foods, tropical fruit, and, of course, the coffee! Costa Rica is a beautiful country, so the sights and the nature will be amazing which I am also looking forward to!
