Hola Argentina!

Hey everyone! I am Salma Xolo-Thomas, a freshman business student at the University of Pittsburgh studying Finance and Accounting. I am a Pittsburgh native, from a small town about 30 minutes outside of the city so naturally Pitt was the one for me. On campus, I am involved in a few business organizations such as Women in Business, Undergraduate Finance Club, and Delta Sigma Pi -a co-educational business fraternity. Outside of academics, I am a huge music fan, love to read while working out and enjoy cinema. I’m very passionate about my education and plan to achieve my masters in the future.

This upcoming May I will be studying healthcare management in Argentina with Pitt Business Plus3 and am beyond excited. I chose this two-week program because it offers a perfect introduction for beginners to experience abroad traveling while learning from it. During my trip there I’ll gain insight into the delivering, financing, and managing aspects of each sector of the country’s healthcare system. We will get to experience cultural activities as well such as tango lessons, visit Universidad Austral, La Boca, museums, and more. I am also Hispanic myself and can’t wait to be surrounded by a culture closely related to my own. To take in the food, the language, clothing, and more

While traveling, I academically want to accomplish a well understanding of the country’s healthcare financials as an aspiring finance major. Professionally, this trip will teach me many ways how to interact and engage in business with mutual respect while in foreign countries. However, the most prominent personal accomplishment I inspired for this trip is finally having a chance to travel abroad. This will be my first time outside of the country and I truly cannot think of a better program or school to finally take this huge step in my life with. Hail to Pitt!
