Hello! My name is Hazel Kane and I am so excited to be heading to Dublin for Plus3 in just 3 weeks! I am a sophomore in the College of Business Administration at Pitt and I am majoring in Finance. I also am minoring in economics and pursuing a certificate in Non-profit management. I am originally from Delaware County, PA (right outside of Philly), and a fun fact is that all four members of my immediate family are Pitt alumni or current students!! My sister is graduating from Pitt in just two weeks, and both of my parents went to Pitt for undergrad. Needless to say I was prohibited from applying to Penn State (rightfully so).

Outside of classes, I am a social chair on the Club Softball team at Pitt, and I am so excited to have recently been elected as Business Manager for the 2023-24 season. Club Softball is my favorite thing about Pitt, and we will hopefully be attending Regionals in West Virginia in two weeks because we are currently first in our conference!! Other than softball, I also work as a lifeguard for Pitt Campus Rec.

When Plus3 ends I will be traveling a little bit around Europe, and I am currently planning to go to Amsterdam and Paris, which I am so excited about. When I get back to the States, I will be returning to my sleep away camp on the Eastern Shore to work as a Village Leader. I will be in charge of 10-20 staff members and up to 100 campers, which is very intimidating, however I know that it will be a truly rewarding experience, and I can’t wait to be back at camp.

Back to talking about Plus3, I chose this program because I have always wanted to study abroad, however I did not want to leave Pittsburgh for an entire semester. I have also always wanted to go to Ireland because I am Irish (if you couldn’t tell from my hair) and it is a beautiful country with amazing people. I also love the business culture in Dublin and I can not wait to experience it firsthand!
