Hola Costa Rica!
In Heredia we walked to through the church which had beautiful interiors and even saw where Alfredo González Flores lived when he was president. Down the street we were able to walk into a market which had a lot of fresh fruits, meats, vegetables and fish. We also walked past a live band with dancers who were dressed in beautiful floral dresses.
Then at lunch I had the best strawberry natural juice drink, I even finished it all! The food for lunch was amazing, but one thing I did not expect were all of the large portions that I would be eating here. After lunch we went to the mall which was another thing I did not expect to see in Costa Rica. It was huge and had many cool structures indoors and outdoors.
After the program was done for the day, my Dad’s cousin picked me up to go to their house and have dinner with my extended family. One thing I wish I knew was the amount of Spanish that everyone speaks here. Most people only speak Spanish, especially some of my family members. Finally, I am so excited to experiencing new things here and can’t wait for dinner with more of my extended family tomorrow.
My first day here was so great and I can’t wait to see what the rest of the program has in store. Costa Rica definitely exceeded my expectations and I am sure it will continue to do so in the weeks to come!
Adios for now!
