It’s been a day since we landed in Ireland! It was defiantly exhausting yesterday, but nothing a good nap couldn’t fix. Ireland has exceeded my expectations! We started the morning off with a hike off the coast and a 30 minute drive later we were in the heart of Dublin. I didn’t really know much about Ireland before coming here, but I was surprised, how close everything is. We walked pretty much everywhere we went in Dublin. I was also surprised with the types of agriculture that Ireland particularly Dublin has. I was expecting it to look different, but it’s gorgeous especially the building we saw today during our history walking tour. Something that I was different was I thought that Dublin would be more spread out and look like the rest of Ireland with more grasslands, but it’s like every major city. In the sense that there is something on every block. However, there are no skyscrapers which is cool. Since Catholicism is popular in Ireland, I was expecting to see more cathedrals, but we learned today that there are none.
It’s important as business consultants to understand the historical context of where you’re doing business because it gives them insight into the social, economic, and political factors that shaped their industry and market. Business consultants can find patterns and trends to help develop strategic recommendations and allows them to anticipate any challenges and opportunities. It’s also important for cross-cultural communication and collaboration. Every culture has values, beliefs, and customs, that impact how business is conducted. Business consultants need to know the historical background and culture to build success relationships with clients, so they don’t offend or misunderstand them.
