Day 2- Universität Augsburg

After recovering from a bit of jet lag from yesterday, today was the first day we started doing work. We went to the University of Augsburg. From their we gathered in our assigned groups which included German and American students to create and give presentation about our assigned car company. This was interesting because I got to learn more about the German students. One such example is that their keyboard on their laptops was different. Some buttons didn’t exist, some buttons were added such as “ü” or “ß” and some buttons were completely switched around such as the “y” and the “z” button. After group work we went and got lunch at the University’s dining hall which was a lot better than the University off Pittsburgh’s dining in terms of food quality. Then we went on a tour through the university. The campus was smaller than Pitt’s and with a lot less skyscraper’s. There are also a lot less open fields than in Pitt’s campus. However, there are some cool things about this campus that Pitt does not have. One thing is that transportation between Augsburg University and Augsburg city is much easier and more convenient. Their is a train that runs through the middle of the campus and makes getting to the city more efficient and clean than taking the buses at Pitt. Another cool thing is that Augsburg University had a lot of lakes that looked beautiful and even had some interesting wildlife living in them such as koi fish. Today I also tried the hotel breakfast and was not too bad, had grilled chicken and seasoned fries which is so miles better than what some foods at the eatery had, and ended the day with dinner by eating salami pizza at Dragone, an Italian restaurant. Overall dining experience today, 6/10. Today was an interesting day seeing a college campus from a different country. Tomorrow I will have to wake up bright and early for our company visit and meet up in the hotel lobby at 7:15, but should be interesting nonetheless.
