Germany is growing on me more and more every day! We did a lot today and it was wonderful. We started with a tour of the University of Augsburg and began working on our introductory presentations for the day about our companies. It was great to learn more about our companies and the other companies and connect with our group members. We then ate at the university of Augsburg and the cafeteria called Mensa and it was incredible, everyone was surprised at how high quality the food was for such a low price. I’m excited for all the company tours.
We then began our scavenger hunt / tour. This was a great experience as we met the German students who will be studying at Pitt in the fall. It was great to connect with them and have a few hours to talk and learn more about Germany and German culture. It’s exciting to be able to show them around Pitt and connect with them. The tour was great seeing things like the stadium and multiple amazing churches like the one in the picture. The churches in Europe are awesome and amazing works of architecture. I really liked exploring them and seeing everything I could.
Overall, I had a wonderful second day in Germany and I’m starting to get used to the time zone change! While I haven’t had a culture shock while visiting Germany exploring the city today and using the trams showed me how vastly different it is from America and how America could learn a lot from Augsburg especially when it comes to incredible public transit and nice paved roads. I can’t wait to explore more and interact more with the German students as learning about another culture has been incredible for me!
