Dublin Debut

Directly from the airport trip started with a scenic hike in Howth Ireland through the flower filled east coastline. I have been to Ireland before but have not spent much time in Dublin. The impression that was made is much different from my memory 5 years ago. After we explored the fishing village and met with our CEA CAPA staff where I enjoyed a full Irish breakfast at the Wrights of Howth.

The next day we had a very insightful walking and bus tour. We learned about the past relationships with Great Britain and Ireland, and the Irish path to freedom. I previously had no knowledge on the history of Ireland and our tour guides kept us very intrigued and provided us with many sights.

Understanding the historical context of Ireland is largely import for understanding how their culture and how they go about business. The complex relationship with the UK still has effect today such as the UK owning Northern Ireland. One example of the historical context taking effect was Lord Edward was a large public figure for the Irish revolution and was said to be able to raise an army of 200,000 Irish men just if his name was involved. The death of Lord Edward halted the process of freedom for the Irish, step backs like this could be the reason why the United Kingdom still owns part of Ireland today. We saw post boxes with crowns on them from when the UK ruled so the effect of their ruling is everlasting. It is very helpful to understand the history of the country you are doing business with and understanding the struggles the locals have gone through, and adapt our approach based on it.
