After what seemed like hours of flying and the many hiccups, that one may expect when traveling, we finally arrived in Ireland! Initially, when I stepped outside the air felt different and the realization set in. Prior to this moment, I had never been anywhere outside the US so it felt amazingly surreal. Even without much prior knowledge of Ireland I was aware of its coastal regions and green scenery, but no words or pictures could describe the feeling I had while we drove away from the airport and I saw Ireland’s unique landscape for the first time. One thing I was surprised by upon arrival is that people here are truly so friendly. While exploring the coast and a small fishing village in the morning yesterday we met so many people and got to see many breathtaking views. To finish the evening we had dinner and spent our first night out exploring the city even though we were all exhausted after not really having slept for over a day and half. Overall though the day was quite magnificent. Today, we went on a walking and bus tour and learned so much of Ireland’s rich history and saw how truly beautiful the city of Dublin is. We saw places like Dublin Castle, Trinity College, Stephen’s Green, while learning about Ireland’s history with the UK, their more recent economical strengths and struggles and even the darker parts of Ireland’s recent and distant past and so much more. Knowing more about the Irish’s history, not only helps me feel more connected to the country but also having such knowledge is a great tool to have as I move forward in life and in a career. From a business aspect, knowing more about the history of the country allows for a better understanding of the cultural, societal, legal and economical ideas that impact any and all business relations. With such understanding, a business is able to apply it to their decision making processes to help provide a more cohesive and fundamental business structure. Overall the memories and knowledge I have gained over just the first two days has truly been unforgettable.
