Today, Ellie Doyle, the founder of TalentHub, gave a presentation about seeking jobs and personal brands. I really enjoyed her presentation especially when she was talking about resumes. She gave good advice to turn your 2D piece of paper resume into something that shows the recruiter who you are and making it come to life. It should highlight your skills, soft skills, and your personal brand. Something that particular stood out to me was that you don’t need to be a leader and do all the work, companies aren’t looking so much for that in entry-level jobs. They are looking for the different soft skills you have and how you are working on a team. I would say my strongest competencies are working well with others and time management. These types of competencies will help me in my future career because I can be organized and work effectively and efficiently with a team and also individually.
Ellie also focused on the importance of having a personal brand because it’s how people see you. It can be the first impression people have of you especially on social media. My personal brand is that i am a happy person who looks out for people. I look at things with a glass half full approach. I am always there for people when they are down and their biggest supporter. This could be with a good luck text before an interview or a hug after a test!
