Today was day 7 in Buenos Aires! Today we visited the Basilica of Luján and Rodizio Estancia, a ranch. It was a much more relaxed day with a slow pace and no lectures.
First we visited the Basilica of Luján. It is this beautiful cathedral that was built when a man ordered a terra-cotta statue of the Virgin Mary to Buenos Aires. He wanted to than transport it to Santiago to try and restore the Catholic faith. After embarking from the port of Buenos Aires, the party carrying the image stopped at the residence of Don Rosendo Oramas. When they wanted to resume the journey, the oxen refused to move. Once the terra-cotta statue was removed the oxen began to move again. They took this as a sign that the Virgin Mary wished to stay there. It was a beautiful place to visit and really understand the depths of Catholicism in Argentina.
After that we hopped back on the van to visit a ranch. When we arrived at the ranch they had a small snack of cheese, meats, and empanadas for us. Me and some friends rode some bikes around the ranch seeing some of the horses and sheep they have. We then headed in for lunch. This was quite an interesting lunch. We all got french fries to share at the table, but were given different meats to try in different courses. The first round I sadly (not really tho) could not have. It was some pork sausage and blood sausage (yuck). Some people did try the blood sausage, but did not really enjoy. Next course I was excited to try the meat after eating it I was informed it was pig colon. I still ate it and did enjoy it, but not sure I will eat again. The next courses were delicious and seemed to be different cuts of ribs or roast. I got too full and couldn’t eat the last two rounds of meats. After we got a little dessert. I got some kind of ice cream with nuts on the edges that reminded me of the top of a Drumstick. It was delicious! After lunch we played some volleyball, spike ball, and visited the farm’s animals.
Today was a nice relaxing day and really enjoyed getting to spend some time outside on a beautiful day.

With Mother’s day being tomorrow I wanted to to just take a little moment to talk about my mom! My mom has done so much for me growing up. Whether it was driving around all weekend for soccer games to hosting 20 girl sleepovers, she was ready for the challenge. Bless her heart for putting up with me and my sister. We are a handle full of attitudes and clashing personalities that is not easy to manage. She is such a hard worker. I am so proud of here for going back to school to get her doctorate. Managing school and work was not easy especially with kids who travel every other weekend or just make her do everything around the house. Love her for giving me the life I have. I would not have all these opportunities without her.

Tomorrow we have another relaxing day of dun adventures. We will be visiting Meseo Evita and Parque de la Memoria. I’ll be checking back in tomorrow on how it goes.
