Today was a lovely relaxing weekend day. This morning we visited the Kolossi Crusader Castle in Kourion Ancient City. On top of the castle was a lookout where you could see on all sides of the area. There were many rooms and a basement with a random stool in the middle which was funny. The fleur-de-lis, flower of life, was on the fireplace and a painting which proves the French presence here in Cyprus. The fleur-de-lis reminded me of my mom because I know she likes it, so that was a nice reminder.
After the Kolossi Crusader Castle we visited an area that was once a spa. You could see the mosaic on the floor for the pools and the entryway. There was also an amphitheater that overlooked the sea, but was once whole and did not view the sea. This area was beautiful on the Agios Ermogenis Beach. We walked around this area and we headed down to eat lunch on the beach. I had a salmon teriyaki bowl with white rice and vegetables. It was delicious and so nice to eat right on the beach. After we all finished our meals, we walked on the beach before it was time to head back. I picked up 2 rocks along the way.
After the Agios Ermogenis Beach we headed to the Limassol castle where there was also many rooms. The Limassol had many artifacts in the rooms and the basement of this castle had large grand ceilings which was surprising. After visiting the first castle, I had expected it to be more dungeony, (pretend that’s a word). We overlooked Limassol on the roof and then headed back into town. We looked at some street vendors and did some shopping. Right now I’m relaxing on the hotel roof by the pool and headed to the beach ! 🙂
