Today we were off to the Caribbean side! Immediately after getting off the bus, I felt the humidity hit me. It makes sense that heart of palm grows on this side of the island because of how hot, humid, tropical, and rainy it is, compared to coffee, which could be grown at higher, cooler altitudes.
Watching how heart of palm is harvested is cool. The woman pulled out a machete and started cutting that thing up like a ninja. And our entire lunch was made with heart of palm. I think I’ve had enough for life. I told myself that today was the first and last day I will ever have heart of palm.🤣

Like most of the places we have visited so far, a challenge these farmers face is climate change. My topic is “make”, and it is hard to make a product when the growing conditions are not right, like lack of rain. That is an issue that is faced recently.
After we got home, Grace, Blu and I decided to walk into the town to get our Mamatica some flowers for mothers day. Naturally, we stopped at a bakery and tried some delicious treats too. But then we got caught in a downpour (it was worth it though!)

Today was a short day, but we finish it off with a soccer game! I am excited to attend the game with everyone and experience how it is. I am loving Costa Rica more and more every day!
