Today we got to visit Audi which was by far my favorite visit yet. We arrived at Audi and the group split up into two groups. My group went to the museum first. The first thing that you notice at the museum is the rotating cars. There were so many cool cars on it. There were cars that were in GTI racing, cars in le mans, and other racing cars. Not only was that cool but the museum had cars dating back to when the first car was even created. There were also a lot of old motorcycles there which I was expecting to see.

The museum was a circle that had three floors to it. You start at the top and then go to the bottom. It starts with the oldest cars and ends with the newest cars. I thought it was really cool to see some of the really old cars. And then to see where cars are now and how fast that they evolved was really interesting. I really liked seeing the buggy cars, but the coolest car was at the end. There was a fully autonomous car at the end (I don’t know if it actually worked). The interior was it was just really nice car seats. It almost looked like inside of a plane.

After the museum part of the visit, we got to see the Audi factory. They took our phones at the beginning, and they were very strict on no pictures. The beginning of the tour showed the machines that cut the sheet steel and weld it into the frame of their cars. After that there were just multiple rows of the car being assembled and put together. It was insane seeing the cars being put together, and the fact that that the cars were moving from the ceiling. It felt like it was in a movie about the future the technology there was insane. I also thought that it was interesting how each car in the line was different so the worker would have to put different parts into each car which doesn’t seem easy at all.

After that we had a talk with some people who work at Audi about what their plans for the future are. They plan to stop making new ICE vehicles by 2026, and the factory that we saw will turn into an electric vehicle plant. Out of all the companies that we saw Audi is probably the most prepared for the switch to electric vehicles and shouldn’t be hurt when the switch is made. They have a clear plan for the future, but other companies within the Volkswagen family might be more hurt than Audi. After the Audi visit, we had lunch at Audi and then went back to Augsburg.
