Day 9 – Regensburg

Today we visited Regensburg and Walhalla. This city was beautiful, and I loved the medieval style of it all. We started with a city tour which was cool to learn about the history behind everything, especially the old buildings and how some of them were from the 7-8th century. We also learned about the cathedral that is the main focal point of Regensburg and all the historical significance it holds.

We then started on our free time. This was fun as we started with some ice cream before lunch which is the reverse order, but it was great. Before going to lunch we decided to make a quick stop in the cathedral, and it was absolutely magnificent. It was quite possibly the prettiest building I’ve ever been in, and I took many pictures, some of which I’ll use in my blog.

We then moved on to lunch where we got Italian food. Since Germany is very close to Italy their most popular kind of restaurant is Italian. I got spaghetti and it was fantastic. My friend Brian got a massive pizza and ate the entire thing! After eating lunch, we began to explore the city walking around seeing different shops and what not.

We then met up with everyone and left the city to head to Walhalla. Something hilarious happened on the trip there as the bus driver hit a sign and absolutely destroyed it, taking the sign completely off the pole and we were all laughing a lot. Walhalla was incredible from the outside reminding me of the Parthenon in Greece. It was so cool to see something built in the Ancient Greece style in person. Around the back there were magnificent views that we took some pictures of. We then went in the Walhalla and saw all the models of famous and important Germans which was unique. We then ended our day with the long bus ride back and today was a great day touring an incredible city I’ve never heard of.
