5/16 – Microsoft and ThinkHouse

Today was by far my favorite site visit! We started of the day talking the Luas an hour away to … Microsoft campus. I really enjoyed the train especially when we got out of the city and started ending to the campus. It felt like home taking the train into the city. I felt more like a local taking the luas to work especially in my business casual outfit. The articulate was insane, they had a light up for that displayed different live motion pictures. I fell in love on the tour and the different rooms. There was a room with egg shaped lounge chairs to take a nap. I would use that daily. It was also the first site tour that offered ue a beverage lol. The presenters were engaging and very fun. They talked about the impact on AI and the importance of it. It was interesting to hear their point of view because Microsoft owns Chat GBT. It was also comforting to know that AI wouldn’t drive you out of your job it will only help you. I could honestly work at Microsoft.

After the tour, we took the Luas back to Dublin where we split up and took a pit stop to get food before our ThinkHouse tour. We stopped in a grocery store – Fresh. I have to say, it was probably my one of my top favorite places that we stopped to grab food so far and that’s not because they gave me a bigger water at a discount. I got a pesto chicken sandwich which was yummy. I also tried cranberry chocolate with mint crunch inside, absolutely life changing.

Later we walked to ThinkHouse where we looked through their annual magazine and got another water. Two in one day! The office was gorgeous and vibrant. We met with different people from differnret teams and they talked about what they did. IT was comical to see their interaction of a football tailgate for an Ad. We also met with someone in the social media team. She looked like an absolute influence. She was so knowledgable about it too especially when talking about the matrix for what is successful or not. It was interesting to hear their point of view of AI from a creative prospective. I was kind of surprised their support for it and how clients are pushing for it. However, they had good advice and said the future is Ai, but companies are looking for people who know it not Ai itself. Marketers are working with AI to create a campaign.

I am curious to see the impact of Ai because we are just starting to use it. A year ago no one really used it and now pretty much every knows about Chat GBT. I just knew that people use it with help with things almost like a version of Siri. I know that it’s like a robot machine that generates your homework like the movies. I admit I was afraid of Ai replacing my future career and having to figure out a new path. But I find more comfort in knowing that I will be ok after talking to Microsoft and ThinkHosue today.

So far we have seen 5 companies and I think Microsoft has the best culture out of all of them. They have a work life balance where they get work done in a timely manner and get to go home around 4:30 everyday. You have a life outside of the company. However, they still offer resources for employees to grow even on campus. For example, we got to see their wellness center with a salon, eye doctor, yoga studio and so much more. It felt like a welcoming environment with no competitiveness or upright like Google. I think a good culture is where a company offers resources for their employees to success inland out of work. It puts people in a happy mindset and makes the work enjoyable. I think with anything it’s also the people that make the environment because you want to go to something when you like the people and enjoy their company.

Overall, I loved today! It’s actually crazy that there are less than 72 hours left, it has seriously flown by!
