Day 10: Curing the Sick

Today we spent the first part of our day getting an office tour of Nano Energies, a very interesting energy aggregation company operating in Central and Eastern Europe. They focus on delivering 100% green energy to companies in the region and have a very interesting software solution that optimizes energy production and transmission, given historical and seasonal demand, weather, and many other factors, in order to deliver consistent service to all of their clients. After our company visit, the whole group went on the most important expedition of our trip: the pharmacy. The Vitamin C and cough medicine truly saved us.

Next, with clear sinuses, we explored the National Technical Museum and got to see many interesting artifacts from the country. We saw a number of cars dating back to the late 19th century, including one previously used by the president of the Czech Republic. In the museum, we also got to look at artifacts of astronomy from Tycho Brahe and Johannes Kepler, including their sextants used to observe the stars.

I am extremely grateful for all of the experiences today and on all of the other days, but the one I am the most thankful for is the relationships I’ve been able to build with our group of students as well as our accompanying faculty. I knew that being in Prague would be fun, but I could not have imagined it being as universally enjoyable and eye-opening as it has been so far.
