Today was the first day since being in Czechia that we got to sleep in and have a morning to recover before starting our adventures. Since all of us on the trip are currently doing our best to get over a cold, having a late start was a lovely gift. We started our day in the early afternoon with a visit to Kunsthalle, a brand-new art gallery in Prague. Here, we got to hear from the facility manager, director, and one of the architects on our tour of their building. Hearing the story of how they transformed the old substation into a modern art museum while still integrating the external design of the building into the traditional Czech style. I especially enjoyed seeing that juxtaposed with the ultramodern design of the internals of the building.
After our tour and conversations with the director and architect, we had the opportunity to network with Pitt alumni from the former executive MBA program that the university used to run in Prague. Being in a room full of Pitt faculty, undergraduate students, and alumni in a foreign country was such a unique experience. I spoke with a handful of the EBMA grads and got to hear their personal stories about how they navigated the world and ended up in their current careers. It was extremely interesting to me to hear such similar stories from these professionals when compared to similar people I know in America.
