In Prague, the behavior as far as politeness and manners is extremely consistent. people are always sure to greet each other upon crossing paths. Additionally please and thank yous are a must as they should be. As a visitor in this country, I have tried my best to follow these standards with my attempted Czech pronunciation. The majority of people speak great English. There is a noticeable appreciation from locals when foreigners simply make an effort. The language is complex and would not be easy to pick up by any means. However, it’s not out of the picture to learn a a few words and phrases that will allow better communication with Czech citizens. I feel that this behavior also shows a level of respect for the culture of the region and the level of nationalism they have here. Czech people are proud of their heritage and what they have made of this country.
