I’m Not Crying You Are

IT IS THE LAST DAY OF THE TRIP. Honestly, I was not expecting myself to be this sad when it was time to leave. Today we had one visit which was at FoodCloud. The journey to get there felt like forever, but it was nice that our meeting time was in the afternoon. FoodCloud is a nonprofit that connects business with charities to donate surplus food and eliminate food waste and feed those who do not have access to food. They operate with a B2B model which I think is the best aspect of their business. This allows them to put their energy toward reaching out to as many charities instead of specific people/groups of people, allowing them to help more people and cover more ground.

It was clear when they were talking that they business is good at heart, our speaker said that they do not care if businesses use other companies to donate food, as long as they are doing it. I hate to admit this, but I do not think I would last in an environment with so little competition, but it warms my heart to see them do all this good. I truly believe the driver to making FoodCloud so successful is the passion and the genuine people.

They are very involved with the community as they have mostly volunteers help with their business as well as support philanthropic causes.

Overall, it was nice to see a business that truly cares about helping the population and the was founded by a 19 year old years ago! The story of FoodCloud is so inspiring and I am so glad we got to visit today.

This is my last blog in Ireland, but you can’t get rid of me yet because we have one more post!!
