Last Day

Today is a our last full day! I know tomorrow we are doing a couple of things, but this is our last full day before we head off to the airport.

In summary I had a great time, and learned so so much. I feel super honored to have met with such high ranking officials in the Argentina health care system and gotten to hear them speak. There is no way this could have been simulated in a lecture. I got to look these people in the eye and ask them questions about what they do and what they are striving for in their work. As we have been walking around these last two weeks everyone has been telling us that we are experts compared to Argentine citizens. There is so much complexity in the system that people are so unaware of. We got the privilege to learn that from the people in power.

I feel so lucky to have made such good friendships from this experience. Being with people and traveling is a different kind of bonding experience. You are out of your element. You are with people you don’t feel super comfortable with. Plans change all the time. New things you have never seen before are done together. I am so grateful to have bonded so much with the people I love over this trip. I have had so many laughs with Maria, and seriously couldn’t have had the same amount of fun on this trip without here.

One of my favorite memories was going out to dinner and going out after on the first Tuesday. Going to dinner on Tuesday I was really tired and didn’t plan to have this ‘amazing night’ – it was just going to be dinner. That night I literally had so much fun. I laughed until my cheeks hurt. I felt I really gotta know everyone at dinner and lead the trip to be so much better. It was just a super simple, but I had so much fun.

We did tango class on the last day here and that was so much fun. I was really looking forward to it throughout the whole week. I tried to focus, honestly, really hard to make sure I got all the steps down. Then, as soon as I got the steps down I was so excited. Maria and I were partners, and then I was switched and partners with Marissa. I could have done it for another hour I had so much fun.

Overall, I am so grateful for this trip and all the people in it. These memories are ones I will tell my kids one day. I will never experience something like this again, so I am beyond thankful.
