As my last day comes to an end here in Argentina I have a rush of emotions. I’ve learned not only so much about the culture here and healthcare system, but also about myself. We got to visit so many cool places like Palermo, Recoleta, La Boca, and many more. I’d say the craziest thing I learned here about the healthcare system is that they lack a lot of primary care. In the United States it’s very normal for us to go to our primary care physician or an Urgent Care if something simple is wrong. But, here in Argentina people just go to the hospitals for something minor. They have free healthcare for everyone so accessing care when you need it is very easy you will just have to wait a few hours. Another cool thing that I learned was about each different sector of the healthcare systems.
My all time favorite thing that happened on this trip though was meeting my friends. I came onto this trip only knowing one person and from the branch campus of Pitt in Greensburg. My new friends and I spent every moment together and experienced a whole new way of life in the process. They have taught me so much about myself and I can’t believe I have to leave them today.
I’m really going to miss Argentina and having fun things to do everyday. I think that next year I will definitely go on another study abroad trip! This two week trip has provided me with so much knowledge and I’m so excited to implement what I have learned here in the United States.
I’ll hopefully see you next year!
