Hello, everyone! My name is Liliana Ali and I am a freshman marketing major. I am thinking about pursuing a double major in finance and minoring in economics, as well as getting a certificate in public and professional writing. I am from Haddonfield, NJ and I have an older sister who goes to Tulane University. At Pitt, I am involved in AMA as well as Treble Choral Ensemble and Sounds Like Treble (an A Cappella group here at Pitt). In my free time, I love to play tennis, read, sing, and hang out with my friends and family. One of my all-time favorite books I have read is The Silent Patient by Alex Michaelides (10/10 highly recommend!!)
This May I will be traveling to Vietnam for two weeks through the Pitt Business Plus3 Program! Ever since hearing about the Plus 3 Program on Admitted Students Day back in April of 2023, I knew it was something I wanted to apply for when the time came. I am beyond ecstatic to travel to Asia, a continent I have never visited before, and learn about the history and culture of Vietnam. Additionally, the theme of the trip is “Globalization and Development.” In a constantly changing, technologically advanced society, globalization and development are very interesting and important societal trends to study. I am looking forward to learning about Vietnam in this context, especially considering all of the effects of the Vietnam War. Also, I am excited to engage with the locals and the Vietnamese University students, and to network with global business executives. I believe that I will be able to learn a vast amount about the ongoings of Vietnamese society, and how it might differ tremendously from everyday life in the United States. Ultimately, I am so grateful for this opportunity to expand my professional and cultural horizons, and to open my mind up to new friendships and experiences.
