Hi Everyone,
My name is Heera Dalal and I am an Honors Finance and Accounting major at the University of Pittsburgh. I am from Cherry Hill, New Jersey, and I am relatively new to the Pittsburgh area. In my free time, I enjoy playing golf, watching football (I am a huge NY Giants fan), and spending time with friends. At Pitt, I’m especially involved with the student-run investment group, Panther Equity. Panther Equity has given me a chance to explore and further develop my interest in finance, and I have been able to become a Senior Analyst and incoming Co-Portfolio Manager for the fund. In the future, I hope to pursue a career in Private Equity or Investment Banking.
This summer, I have the amazing opportunity to travel to South Korea and explore a new culture! I’m extremely excited to engage in exciting new experiences in Korea and learn about Korea’s smart systems. The focus of our trip, “smart systems” is especially valuable because of the modern business world’s interconnectedness and movement toward cohesive technology. I am looking forward to seeing how smart systems in Korea interact with and learn from each other and how they impact today’s business world.
I chose to travel to Korea because studying Korea’s nuanced spiritual culture connected with innovative and optimized systems would be a fascinating way to learn by doing. As an emerging business professional, learning how to effectively communicate and connect with a diverse array of people is invaluable. Traveling to Korea gives me the opportunity to interact with a new culture and build connection and communication skills with an entirely different group of people. Further, Korean culture and history has always been interesting to me because of the differences between Korean and American culture. Whenever traveling, I like to fully immerse myself in a new culture and notice the differences and similarities between the new place and my home. Korea is a great opportunity to learn about a new culture while exploring how innovative smart systems can help us as business professionals.
To conclude, I am extremely excited to travel to Korea this summer and explore a new country. I cannot wait to engage in this opportunity and I am incredible grateful to the global experiences office and the University of Pittsburgh for facilitating this program. Till next time!
