Hi! My name is Liberty Cooper, and I am from Mt. Lebanon, Pennsylvania, which is in the Pittsburgh area. I am a freshman Business Analytics major, and I intend to pursue a minor in French. Outside of class, I am a Golden Girl majorette in the Pitt Band, and I am a member of the professional fraternity Delta Sigma Pi. Consequently, I have further developed my skills in teamwork and communication.
Throughout my high school career, I served as a receptionist and assistant in a small hair salon, working under an inspiring young ‘girl boss.’ As a result of this position, I have gained experience in customer service, handling financial transactions, and many other aspects of running a small business. It was this part-time job and my boss that inspired me to study business here at Pitt.
This May, I will be travelling to the Netherlands! I selected this program not only because of the lovely tulips I hope to see, but also because of its focus on sustainability. As global warming continues to progress on a terrifying scale, many businesses are promising to reduce their carbon footprints and their strain on Earth’s resources. But what do these promises really mean? How are businesses making their production, promotion, and distribution processes actually sustainable? Through the Netherlands Plus 3 program, I intend to answer that question and find out what a sustainable business actually looks like.
I am extremely excited for my trip to the Netherlands and anxious to delve deeper into the concept of sustainable business!
