Introduction Blog

Hello, my name is Mitchell Dennick, but everyone usually just calls me Mitch. Currently I am a Freshman at the University of Pittsburgh College of Business Administration. While I am undecided at the moment, I plan on majoring in an area like Global Management or Marketing. Perhaps both? Unlike most students here, I am not from Pennsylvania or any nearby states. Instead, I have come here all the way from Eugene, Oregon. In high school, I was a part of many organizations and clubs. To name a few, I am an International Baccalaureate graduate and diploma receiver, I participated in clubs such as theater and choir, and I also served on my schools Leadership team. As for my personal interests, I have many hobbies such as gaming, reading, and writing, which I have all been doing since I was a kid. At Pitt, I hope to gain the skillset which will allow me to work globally with many different peoples, cultures, and locations.

This summer, in May, I will find myself happily participating in the Plus3 Korea group for the two weeks of the program. When I first learned about the Plus3 program during my business seminar classes, I knew I had to at the very least apply and try to get in. Thankfully I was, and I even got my number one choice even if there wasn’t a definitive ranking system. When I was looking at locations we could go, South Korea stood out to me the most. As a history buff this was one of the more interesting locations which meant I took an immediate interest in it. Having already visited east Asia before as well, I knew it would be a new, but also familiar experience which would make it even more interesting in my opinion. Learning that I got chosen for this program has been one of the highlights in my, as of now, short time here at Pitt. Everything regarding the program has been great so far, and I know it will continue as our departure date arrives.

During the trip, I am hoping that I will be able to have an immersive experience that leaves me wanting more. If I am sitting in the airport on the final day wishing I could even have just one more day, that will be enough for me. Before even starting college, I have valued the opportunity to go abroad/study abroad. I feel like this opportunity is one of those things that you can only really do when you are younger for the most part. Due to that, I not only want to have a personal experience, but also one that teaches me something as well. I believe that all our site visits combined with the other fun activities will give me a nice blend of the two. As I am still undecided about exactly what I want to do after college, I hope this trip will at least help me in figuring that out, even if just a little bit.

I am counting down the days until we are able to visit this amazing country and I am looking forward to every second of it. I already know this will be a trip and experience that I will remember for the rest of my life.
