Personal Introduction
Hey! My name is Rachel Pasterik and I am a junior here at Pitt. I am a dual major in Finance and Accounting, as well as earning a Data Analytics certificate. I am originally from Beaver County which is about 30 minutes outside of Pittsburgh. Currently I have an internship at Covestro in their Controlling department where I have been for a little over a year now. Outside of academics, I am the current president of CHAARG which is a workout group focused on empowering women.
Plus3 Germany
By choosing the Plus3 program, this allowed me to fill my desire to travel without spending an entire semester abroad away from my family and the friends I have made at Pitt. When choosing the location, I had already been exposed to the idea of what traveling to Germany.. The company I work for is based in Germany, meaning majority of my coworkers have traveled there. Throughout my time working, I had many conversations with others about their experience not only within the company in the US, but abroad as well. Additionally, knowing some students who had perviously gone on the trip. Being exposed to others stories made choosing Germany an easy decision.
During this trip, I am looking forward to the opportunity to immerse myself into another culture. I have not experienced traveling abroad which will make this the perfect opportunity to grow personally as well as professionally. I am eager to develop my knowledge of how business is run in another country, specifically within the auto industry. Additionally, being given the opportunity to learn more about German history throughout the classes prior to going abroad, then seeing how it has developed into the country it is today will be eye opening. I look forward to traveling to Augsburg, Germany in less than a month!
