Introduction Blog: Danielle Butler

My name is Danielle Butler, a current sophomore at Pitt pursuing a major in Supply Chain Management and a certificate in Global Studies. I have lived about 30 minutes outside of Pittsburgh my entire life, and am greatly enjoying my time at Pitt so far. I am extremely grateful and ecstatic for the opportunity to travel to Augsburg this coming May. This will add to my growing list of different countries I have visited, some of my favorites being Spain and Rwanda. Outside of school and traveling, I am involved in clubs such as my social sorority, Alpha Delta Pi, and Corporate Connections. I also work part time at Panera Bread as a Team Leader. In my free time, I enjoy working out, reading, and trying new foods.

I am especially excited for these 2 weeks in Germany because of the automotive industry focus. As a supply chain major, I felt this trip was right up my alley. I am excited to learn more about this exciting and innovative industry, especially in an international context. Germany is one of the world’s leaders in the automotive industry and I think it will help me gain a broader perspective on not only automotives but international business. From this experience, I hope to gain more knowledge on this exciting industry and I look forward to seeing the inner workings on our site visits. I think collaborating with the university students in Germany will also be an amazing experience, as we can work directly with people who live in the culture we are studying. I think this experience will help me to broaden my horizons to different ways of life and how these differences affect people professionally and personally.
