Hi everyone! My name is Sophia Reynolds, and I am from Coatesville, PA which is part of the vast group of people who say they are from outside of Philly. I am a freshman nursing student at the University of Pittsburgh Oakland campus. I am a part of Pitt’s Nursing Student Association (NSA) and am in Kappa Kappa Gamma. In nursing, I plan to work in either pediatrics or in the emergency department, although I want to start with travel nursing when I first get out of college and work my way up to become a Nurse Practitioner. At home, I work at a retirement home and have been there for three and a half years!
Plus3 Argentina
I chose to do Plus3 because in nursing school, we are not able to study abroad for a semester due to clinicals. Plus3 gives me the opportunity to still experience what studying abroad is like. For Argentina, the opportunity to travel to South America is once in a lifetime. That is truly how Grant sold me- when are you ever going to go to South America? During my senior year of high school, I was able to visit Puerto Rico and London with my two classes, which really increased my interest to travel more. I have selected this program to receive a first-hand look at how healthcare varies around the world. Plus3 Argentina provides me a chance to see how healthcare systems differ in other countries compared to the United States. The opportunity to immerse myself in the healthcare system of another country and learn from individuals who are a part of that system will help me grow and become a more well-rounded RN. I can’t wait to gain more experience and knowledge in global healthcare systems and my Spanish speaking skills!
