Hello everyone! My name is Emily Stephan. I am a current freshman in the Swanson School of Engineering at Pitt. I am majoring in Bioengineering, with a minor in Chemistry. On campus I am a member of Phi Sigma Rho Sorority, Biomedical Engineering Society (BMES), and the Green Team. I enjoy being in as many clubs and organizations that I have time for because I love feeling connected and involved in my passions.
About me personally, I am originally from Smithfield, VA. I moved to North Huntington, PA when I was about 10, and I currently live about 45 minutes from Pittsburgh. In addition to all of the clubs and organizations that I mentioned, my favorite way to spend my free time is hanging out with my friends, going thrifting, painting, and reading.
Why Plus 3 Cyprus is the perfect fit for me!
When choosing between a top location for the Plus 3 Program, it was clear that Cyprus was the match for me. When I was in middle school, I had to do a world history presentation about ancient Greek architecture. I remember doing research for this presentation and falling in love with the history and beauty of Greek architecture. This then led me to research the architectural history of Cyprus. Since the country has had many different cultural influences in history, the architecture there is something I have always wanted to see, and I can’t wait for the trip to begin! I hope to gain new knowledge of a new culture from this trip. I have only been out of the country 1 time, and I want to immerse myself into a foreign culture. Academically and professionally, I hope to gain connections and networking experiences with global companies and CEOs, and I hope to apply the knowledge I learn internationally to my life back in Pittsburgh!
I look forward to this experience, and I am so happy to be a part of the Plus 3 Program!

Emily,
I’m really glad you are already pre-engaged in Cypriot architecture! I’m sure once we all set it in person, it will make a lifetime impression on us.
