Hello, My name is Aurora, but I often go by Rory. I am currently a junior studying marketing, supply chain management, and CPIE (Certificate Program in Innovation and Entrepreneurship). I am born and raised in the Pittsburgh area, and now happily live in Oakland. I enjoy my classes, especially all the friends I have met along the way. In my spare time, I run my own businesses on Etsy. I started my first in 2020 due to Covid, and have continued to build it over the years. My other hobby is crocheting, another thing I picked up while being stuck in lockdown. However, it changed my life, as it became my second push into entrepreneurship. During the summer, I work full time crocheting and going to craft shows and other art events to sell my products. I am working on moving into the online space, but do show off my work on instagram @cheekysroomcrochet. My professional goals involve moving into the corporate marketing world, and ultimately opening my own marketing firms to help entrepreneurs kickstart their business.
My Plus 3 program is located in Augsburg, Germany and is focused on business within the automotive industry. We are being hosted by the University of Augsburg and are given the opportunity to meet with companies like Audi, Faurecia, and Hoerbiger. This two -week opportunity will also give us time to explore the city, and learn about the culture of Augsburg. I chose this program because I always wanted to do a study abroad experience while in college, but was unable to commit to a semester abroad. Once I found out about this two-week opportunity, I immediately knew this was my chance! I hope to gain many new lessons and perspectives from this experience. Personally, I feel that this trip is something I have always needed, but could never plan myself. Being in a brand new environment and stepping out of my comfort zone, mixed with a busy schedule, will help me to work on my time management and communication skills . I hope to meet new people, with perspectives from a different side of the world, and learn from them. Academically, this trip connects with my study of business, and will help me visualize what a future in this career could look like. Professionally, I hope to build on my knowledge of supply chain management and build connections with people in the positions I someday hope to follow. This trip will help me learn more about my future career and help me experience something I always dreamed of doing in college.
Follow along as we go on the two-week adventure of a lifetime to Augsburg!
