Who am I
Hello! My name is Lauryn West and I’m a first-year nursing student at the University of Pittsburgh, Greensburg. I reside near Phoenix, Arizona but originate in Santa Clarita, California. I found myself highly passionate about nursing in my sophomore year of high school and enrolled in EVIT, a college preparation school, for nursing assisting. I graduated after two years in the program with my certification as a CNA. My current interest and goal is to become a Pediatric Nurse Practitioner, as I love helping infants and children.
Plus3: The United Kingdom
This May, I will be studying abroad in the United Kingdom to learn about the differences in nursing practices and how the culture differs from ours in the United States. I’ve always wanted to study abroad and I’ve always had an interest in Europe, especially the United Kingdom, so this opportunity could not have been more exciting for me. I occasionally think about becoming a travel nurse and I believe this experience will help me to decide if that is going to be my nursing journey. If not, this experience will be rewarding, regardless. I’m excited to learn about healthcare in a different country and possibly take back some good ideas.
