Introduction- Ian Pervall

Hey everyone, my name is Ian Pervall, and I am a first-year engineering student. I was born in Hamilton, New Jersey, but when I was 3, my family and I moved to Hatboro, PA. I went to a school named Upper Moreland Highschool where I swam for the school team and hold a few records there as well. Both at home and at Pitt, the 2 main things I enjoy doing are having some friends over and relaxing with them and working at my job as a lifeguard. At Pitt, I am involved in Club Swimming where I made the times to go to nationals, but ultimately couldn’t due to the mandatory FYEC Conference for first year engineers.

The Plus 3 Program that I will be attending is located in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam. I am extremely excited to be on this program because it has been my dream since I was young to travel to places all around the world and this program will be the first step for me. I hope to gain new knowledge of how the Vietnamese people live their daily lives and how they view foreigners. I am also looking forward to trying many different types of Vietnamese food because I have only ever had one or two Vietnamese dishes and would like to try more. Overall, I look forward to experiencing the culture in Vietnam and hopefully making some new friends while I am there as well.
