It feels odd to be back in Nordenberg Hall, the dorm I called home this past year. However, as I type this I am sitting at my desk for a different, exciting, new reason. I am staying in Nordy for only a night before leaving to travel to Seoul. Though, in reality, I do not see myself sleeping at all tonight because I am far too excited. Going to sleep seems silly when we are leaving to go to the airport at a whopping 3:00am (can’t wait).
I am thrilled to experience a culture different than what I am used to. It is so fascinating to learn about mannerisms and customs that aren’t familiar to my own. When I went to Europe in my junior year of high school, we traveled to 5 different countries including the Netherlands, France, Switzerland, Belgium, and Italy. It was truly an experience I’ll never forget. Fast forward 3 years later and this will be my third time out of the country and my passion for traveling has grown a tremendous amount.
I hope to sleep the entirety of the flight. I expect to doze off in the first hour and stay asleep for all 13. Will I accomplish that goal….one can only hope. I would be lying if I said that I was not excited about the food. I am fully prepared to indulge in the best food of my life on this trip. The 7/11 convenience stores might become a late-night staple while I am there. I made sure to leave some room as I packed, that way I can bring trinkets back home. It is insane to me that in less than 24 hours I will be halfway across the world. Well, I guess that is all I have to say for now. I’ll update you in my next blog post!
