Getting to Korea: A whole day of flying

We arrived at Pittsburgh International Airport at around 3:15 Saturday morning. We then came to find out that the desk for Delta Airlines does not open until 4, so we had to wait til 4 to check our bags in. My bag weighed exactly 40 pounds. I was happy about this because I then had room for souvenirs on the flight back. I also didn’t pack much in my carry on so I can fit souvenirs in there too. We then had to all get through TSA and to the gate. My group got to the gate first and some of us waited with our remaining luggage while other went to get breakfast. We boarded our flight to Atlanta airport without any troubles and I slept most of that flight.

Atlanta airport was cool. I’ve never been to that airport and it is one of the biggest ones I’ve been to so far. We had to take a tram from terminal A to terminal E. We had like an hour before our next flight, so I went to the food court and got Panda Express. I boarded my second flight that was 15 and a half hours long. It was the longest flight I have been on since my adoption from China. I slept for the majority of the first half of the flight. The food was okay. I didn’t eat much of the first meal they gave us since I ate a couple hours earlier in Atlanta. The pizza calzone was okay and I liked the Nutella calzone with fruit and yogurt. For both flights I had to sit next to men I didn’t know. It was sort of awkward and I tried not to touch them too much. When we finally landed I was happy to get of the plane. I also lost my phone for half the flight. It fell in between the seat and the plane in a place where I couldn’t see it easily when looking around.

Once I got to Korea with the rest of the group, we had to go through foreign customs. Everyone got their luggage back but one of my group mates luggage got locked for having tide pods. We then got to meet Kay and Brad who are going to help guide us around South Korea. We then took a charter bus back to our hotel. On the ride they explained to us about safety and how we are going to travel around Korea. We eventually got to the hotel and I got to drop off my luggage. I then went back down to the lobby to get a short tour around the area near our hotel. I got to exchange some of my dollars to won. I then went to a nice restaurant with one of my group mates. We got chicken galbi with cheese fondue. It was an amazing meal. They also had a self serve kimchi bar.
