Can’t believe day one is already over! Yes, most of the day involved being in an airplane flying along the coast of North America and East Asia, but the rest of the day has been very interesting and fun. It was rainy and foggy when we landed so I couldn’t really see too much on the drive into the center of Seoul. However, through the mist I could see glimpses of this amazing country. By the time we had driven into Seoul, it had cleared up further and I could see the expanse of the city around our bus. It was an amazing sight to see!
The beginning of this trip reminded me a lot of my visit to Japan last summer. Both of the trips have experiences that mirror each other. Firstly, on both I arrived during the middle of the day at an airport that is close to, but not in the capital city. Secondly. both first days were given some flavor when rain decided to pour on us as we arrived at our hotels. Finally, I was able to try a food from each country that I was looking forward to eating when I got there. Since this is the blog for my Plus3 South Korean experience, I will write about the fried chicken I bought at one of the food stalls in Myeongdong where our hotel is located.
After getting some Won from an international ATM (which I have never used before) I went around with some of the other students and bought a large bowl. As seen in the featured image of this post, it not only looked good, but tasted delicious as well. I would say that jet lag could have had an effect, but I bought it long after the flight so it really was just that good! For a price of ₩12,000, which in USD is around $9, I would say the deal was great!
I’m looking forward to not only trying more food like I did tonight, but also getting to experience all the locations that Plus3 has set up for us in our two weeks here in South Korea!
