Day 2: First Full Day in Augsburg

Our first full day in Augsburg, Germany started bright in early with breakfast at the hotel. We left a little after 8 to catch the tram for our first day at the University of Augsburg! We rode the tram and eventually arrived at 9 and got a brief introduction from both Professor Feick and Professor Michael Paul, an UNA professor. After, we split into groups based on our company in focus, mine being Hoerbiger, and worked with fellow Pittsburgh and Augsburg students on a brief presentation. It was an introduction to our company in focus, and it was so cool to communicate and collaborate with German students on the project.

We all took turns presenting and asking questions about our presentation. I enjoyed presenting our own project, as well as getting a great first introduction to other companies we will be visiting. Once everyone was finished, the Pittsburgh group all ate with the German students in the UNA cafeteria/dining hall, and we enjoyed trying what university students would eat on an almost daily basis.

After lunch was over, we split into groups for a campus tour led by German students. They showed us all different parts of their campus, from academic buildings to a pond to a red horse! I loved seeing all the different parts of their campus and what makes it unique. We then stopped at the hotel and went for a scavenger hunt around the city, stopping by their stadium and going all through downtown. We then hung around the city a while longer before going for an authentic Italian dinner at Al Drago. I had pizza, which was so amazing! The German students also attended the dinner, which helped us get to know them even better. We said goodbye and headed back to the Ibis Hotel after another great day in Augsburg.
