We started off the day with our first German breakfast before we went to Augsburg. We officially started our day meeting some of the German students, where we worked together to introduce our projects to the class (although we spent most of the time talking about the differences between our cultures). We got to learn more about the school system, and they showed us a little bit of their campus before we gave introduced Audi to the class. We then had a zoom meeting with Patrick Wills, who told us a little bit of the history and the future goals of Audi.
We started the next part of the day with lunch in the Augsburg dining hall, one of the most chaotic things I have experienced in Germany so far (granted it’s only the second day). We tried some new foods and talked some more with the German students about their day-to-day life. Immediatly after, they gave us a tour of their campus. The most surprising thing (and my favorite part) was the sports area. They have rock climbing, obstacle courses and even a hand ball court. After the tour we started our scavenger hunt (which our group 100% crushed). They showed us a little bit more around the town, and we got to visit the cathedral which was absolutely gorgeous. We learned about its history and explored the cathedral. The students also took us to the shopping center which was so interesting. Everything is much quicker, and much much cheaper. After lots of conversation we went to the Brewery. We got to talk a little bit about America and explain a little bit of our schooling system (it was so fun to see everyone’s reaction to the American lifestyle, (especially how expensive everything is in America).
We ended the day at an authentic Italian restaurant, where Julie and I found our new favorite drink. It is a mix between Cola and orange soda, (i couldn’t tell you how to spell it). I can’t express how amazing the food was, and how good the energy was. It was the best pasta I have ever had, and the people were amazing. Today was such an eye-opening experience, and I am so excited to keep exploring.
