Today was our first full day here in Cyprus. After 3 long flights and hours spent in airports waiting for connections we finally made it to Cyprus midday yesterday. We didn’t do a whole lot but I was able to settle into the adjusted time and eating schedule unlike other previous trips abroad where I wasn’t able to so quickly.

After many hours of much needed sleep I woke up and had breakfast at the hotel. I am very glad that we don’t have to go far for breakfast as all I have to do is go to the first floor of the hotel where there is a huge room dedicated to the breakfasts. I’m also glad there is a huge selection of offerings at the breakfast, I had some cereal, a croissant, and some breakfast meat as well as a glass of orange juice which was all really good.
After breakfast we all went to see the Kourion where we learned all about the Bath House and Theater that the ancient Cypriots. It was so interesting to see what remained of the bath house and all of the tiles and mosaic designs present were really a spectacle to witness. One thing I was surprised to see what the sheer scale of the bath house. It’s crazy to me how they were able to build such large structures given what they had and that they were on a hill and not a flat surface. It was super fun to explore around the ruins and see everything it had to offer. Especially the incredible views.

After departing from the Kourion we went to the Kolossi Castle. This was really interesting. We first learned about a plant on a tree which I tried. It is apparently used as a chocolate substitute and was not bad at all. When we went in the castle we were able to explore the whole thing. It was interesting to see each floor and the roof was super cool with great views around the whole area. The entire place was super interesting and really interesting.

We had a great lunch in Limassol Marina and then learned something very interesting. Our guide for the day told us all about the nature of Cyprus. Cyprus being located in between 3 continents is home to many types of nature from Europe, Asia, and Africa. Very interesting stuff and overall a great day here in Limassol!
