Tango in Buenos Aires!

Our trip was supposed to start the morning of the 5th, but after getting stuck in the airport for 12 hours it started later in the evening. When we heard our flight got delayed at first we all freaked out, but as the night went on we enjoyed our time bonding together. Being stuck in the airport forced us to interact and connect with each other. We played games and got to know one another which brought us all closer. This experience made our first time in Argentina great. We arrived around 6 p.m. and when we stepped outside it was already pitch black and hard to see the city. We went to visit IES and they gave us dinner. We tried different foods which were really good. I was full from the first thing we tried and then they kept bringing out more. After that they gave us fruit cups and ice cream bars which were so yummy. After eating we went on their balcony to see the view and even though it was very dark, the view of the city was beautiful. The lights lit on the streets and buildings were amazing to see. This morning we went to IES again and had the same view this time with sunlight so we were able to really see everything. It was beautiful. We also walked around a bit and saw shops they had. A cool thing about Argentina is how wide the streets are. It is very different from the United States. There were about 14 lanes on one highway all going the same direction. The driving was crazy and watching people try to switch over that many lanes was interesting and funny. The highlight of my day today was definitely learning how to tango! Dancing is a huge part of the culture so it was really cool to be able to learn. It was also really cool to watch the two instructors dance the way they would at a show or club. Being able to experience that and watch in person was so fun. Practicing how to tango was also fun, but the show they gave us at the end made my jaw drop. It was so exciting. I can’t wait to experience and learn more about Argentine culture.
