Day 3: Oberammergau and Hoerbiger visit

Today we started with an early visit to the Hoerbiger site in two different locations, their office and one of their factories. The company visit was interesting in that we got to see the very detailed production process for both the factory and the office location. I felt like their company culture was exactly what I like to see in a company. They had a company gym and their office space was very open and inviting. They seem to prioritize innovation and sustainability throughout their production and service processes. If they were located in the US I would definitely work for them in their management department. The most fascinating aspect of the factory was how many steps there were for just one synchronizer. Many different machines are needed and each machine has such a special contribution to the end result.

After we had the company visit and factory tour, we headed to Oberammergau to see the Bavarian Alps. Unfortunately, the weather was against us and we could not see any mountains in front of us once we took the lift up to the top. It was still a surreal experience being that high up and almost fully emerged in a cloud. Rain or shine, I am very glad that we still went to the town below the Alps because I was able to get some souvenirs for my family and me. One thing I found surprising was how tall the mountains look still throughout the town. I had a great time even in the rain taking photos and talking more with some of the German students.
