Korean Baseball is a Whole Different Experience

Today, we woke up early and had limited time to eat breakfast at the hotel before taking our bus ride to tour Eaton Korea. We began by having an introduction presentation in a meeting room on the second floor, followed by a Q&A sessions for any questions we had about the company.

After that, we went down to the first floor for a tour of the factory. It consisted of many assembly lines automated by robots to make many different products related to automobiles. The assembly lines and products are consistently inspected by workers to make sure there are no defects.

One product we were introduced to was the Fill Limit Vent Valve (FLVV). The purpose of this product is to stop a gas tank from becoming overfilled. For example, when filling up your tank at the gas station, once the tank is full the gas is cut off so it does not overflow. They have many different models of this product for different models of vehicles.

Our tour was finished with some snacks and a final Q&A session followed by some group pictures outside of the building.

We had a good amount of time before we went to the baseball game, so we made a few stops on the way. The first stop was at the fish market where there were tons of tanks with many different fish as well as things like crabs, octopuses, and many things that I do not even know. Dr. Yun bought a couple octopuses because he told us that eating live octopus is very unique to Korea and that we all could try it if we wanted. I did try it and it was very chewy, but the sauce we had with it was very good, so it was not that bad.

Next, we stopped at the largest mall is Seoul, the Hyundai Seoul, where we looked around for a couple hours. I did not buy anything except for a smoothie from a boba tea place, but the mall had a whole floor that was a garden, so that was pretty cool to see.

We ended our day with a Korean baseball game between the Doosan Bears and the Kiwoom Heroes. The atmosphere at a Korean baseball game is much different than an MLB game. There were cheerleaders leading the crowd through cheers the entire game, and people were always standing and cheering. I also tried a Korean hotdog for the first time, which is very similar to an American corn dog, and it was very good. Unfortunately we went there in support of the Heroes, but they ended up losing 6-1. However, it was still a very fun experience!
