Day 3 in Vietnam – PECC2 Site Visit!

My time here in Vietnam has gone by in a flash and now we’re on day 3! Today we had another company visit where we took a trip to PECC2, a Power Engineering Consulting Joint Stock Company. PECC2 is looking to develop and diversify electricity source models synchronously with reasonable compositions. As well as continuing to develop renewable energy and effectively utilize domestic and imported fossil fuels. This company needs to meet the supply-demand balance with each region, in order to minimize long-distance electricity transmission. In the future PECC2 will develop new energy sources with modern technologies such as hydrogen. The government of Vietnam has set regulations and encouraged these companies to start incorporating various renewable energy sources such as solar and hydrogen power. PECC2 can be looked at as a good example for up-and-coming as well as developing companies because of their ambitious yet achievable goals of renewable energy sources. PECC2 projects that 50% of businesses and 50% of households will use solar as their primary source of energy by the year 2030. PECC2 has excelled in sustainable energy-sourced power sharing since 2018 an increase of around 10% for each of the three renewable energy sources ultimately promoting a sustainable environment including solar, wind power, and hydropower. I plan to take this knowledge I learned from today’s site visit and model some of my professional behaviors and insights off of PECC2. The most important lesson I took away today, was finding a way to balance meeting the demand of customers and regulations set by the government here in Vietnam. Of course, regulations like the government striving to reduce GHG emissions by 15% by 2030 are important to PECC2 but they have to collaborate on this idea with their best interest in mind in terms of revenue and commission.
