Day 3- PECC2

Our 3rd day in Vietnam followed the same routine as yesterday. However, today during language class I was challenged by the girl I worked with named Nhi in a way I wasn’t yesterday. Learning new languages has never come naturally to me. I especially struggle with the tonal sounds of the Vietnamese language. I have never been so bad at something and received so much support and encouragement. So, thank you to all the UEF students who have made me feel so comfortable in the feeling of uncomfortableness.

After language class and lunch, we headed to our second site visit of the trip at PECC2 Innovation Hub. My first impression of the company was how absolutely stunning their building is. I went into the site visit with no expectations and the PECC2 Headquarters exceeded all of them. The architecture and interior design were breathtaking.

When diving into the actual content of the presentation at PECC2, one word to describe them is innovative. They showed us their control rooms which they are able to monitor and control their different renewable energy sites from one room which on a typical day has 5 workers. They also took us down to their VR room and showed us how they utilize advanced VR systems to check renewable energy cites that are in the process of being built, instead of having to travel to the places outside of the city. Overall, their innovation in technology and applying it to renewable energy further proves that Vietnam is an increasingly developing country, and it was really inspiring having the privilege to actually be at PECC2 and see it firsthand.

As a business major, many of the topics around sustainability and renewable energy was extremely new to me. So, I thoroughly enjoyed getting to learn about them and getting to be a guest at one of the biggest renewable energy companies in Vietnam. I leave each site visit feeling more excited for the next one.
