Today, we started with a lecture on “The Role of Green Transformation and The Sustainable Economy in Vietnam.” Hoang Giang, the Vice Chairman of Vietnam Clean Energy Association, discussed green agriculture, the resilience pathway for Vietnam, and green energy. This lecture was very interesting because it tied in with our company visit of the day which took place at PECC2, a power engineering consulting joint stock company. After the lecture, we had another Vietnamese language class where we went into more depth about careers, family, and jobs. After our time at UEF, we went to lunch where we ate a variety of different foods such as soup, spring rolls, and a really cool desert with lychee.
Fast forward to our company visit, we started by entering a very nice, professional building. We sat in luxurious chairs and were given glass bottles of water. This was a really professional and elegant touch that I appreciated as it made me feel special and cared for when meeting this company. We introduced ourselves to the members of the company and they gave us a presentation. I thought their sustainability initiatives were very interesting and I found it fascinating how they were continuously updating their protocol based on new technological advances, such as hydropower. My favorite part was watching the VCR and the operations room where we were given an inside scoop on the analytics of the company and how well their initiatives performed. Ultimately, today was another wonderful day where I learned about sustainability initiatives in an increasingly advanced and developed country.
