Today was spent learning and diving into sustainability in Vietnam. To open the day we had a guest lecture on the countries drive to become more sustainable. I learned some great things and one of my biggest takeaways was how important being “green” it is to the government. If they want to continue to grow and develop, they need to make strides to be more sustainable. They are investing more money into this every year in the hopes of being more sustainable. 

PECC2 is an energy consulting company in Vietnam. Being one of the biggest in the country they work alongside the government as well as private companies to provide energy. The company is doing a lot of great work in the country to stay sustainable by promising to reduce greenhouse gas emissions by 15% over the next 6 years. During the presentation an important stat to me was the amount of renewable energy sources added in the last 6 years. In that time span they converted nearly 25% of their power sources to be renewable and thus more sustainable. This is amazing to hear from an environmental standpoint as PECC2 looks to be more sustainable. PECC2 holds themselves to high standards when looking into future projects. This is crucial in their development in the sustainability space. From my site visit I learned that PECC2 is incredibly technologically advanced, and it showed on the site. We looked at some of their 3D modeling systems that allow them to interact with their systems before rolling them out into the country. The high tech mixed with strong sustainable goals makes PECC2 one of the leading energy produces in Vietnam and if they continue this way they will dominate in the industry.
