Day 4 in Vietnam – Vina Capital Foundation

Day 4 in Vietnam really surprised me in the best way possible. Vina Capital Foundation was an organization that was extremely different than what I thought it was going to be like. Mr. Rad Kivette, the CEO of Vina Capital, gave an amazing presentation/explanation on his company and the inspiration behind it.

One thing that I constantly keep replaying in my head that Mr. Kivette stated was that “healthy children means healthy mom’s which means a healthy community.” I never really thought about society like this but after hearing his explanation for this, I completely agree. I think this method for taking care of a community differs tremendously regarding the US. Although the US has gotten better over the years with equality for men and women, there is still so much more improvement that can be done like having an organization like the Vina Capital.

Something that impressed me with Vina Capital was the passion and goal for the company. It does not seem like at all that Mr. Kivette created this organization with the desire to gain a lot of money. I think he had a dream of saving a community and he genuinely strives everyday to accomplish this goal. This is the main takeaway that impressed me because I think in today’s world many individuals work for money and nothing else.

A challenge that Mr. Kivette and his organization may face in the future is the need for this type of program in other nations. I know Mr. Kivette said he has talked to several different nations regarding helping them and their community, but I believe in coming years a large amount of countries will need programs just like this one. Hopefully, the Vina Capital will be able to help these other nations as well. In addition, I think another challenge that may arise is a rapid growth in the need for girls to be a part of these programs.
